====== Conspiracy Theories ====== At our last coffee break, we talked a little bit about why some people believe in conspiracy theories. Two of the main reasons are that (1) science has become "too complicated" for regular folks to understand, which coupled with (2) a distrust of institutions has led to groups like the Flat Earth Society to see their evidence as "relying on ones own senses to discern the true nature of the world around us."((https://wiki.tfes.org/Flat_Earth_-_Frequently_Asked_Questions)) That is: to discover the true nature of the world, you don't need all that complicated science, and shouldn't trust anyone else but yourself and your own senses. This video does //not// debunk flat Earth. Instead, it seeks to understand why some people believe the Earth is flat, which can also generalize to other conspiracy theories as well. {{ youtube>IwJzsE8CvzQ }}
