On VHF and UHF, not all frequencies are available for use on simplex.  The RAC band plans specifies these channels for simplex use:

===== Coordination =====
These simplex frequencies are most often used for direct communication.  However, they can also be used to link a radio to another piece of equipment ([[/links/xband |crossband]], hotspot, etc).
