IC-7300 Low Receive Signal Strength

When I use JS8Call with my IC-7300, I sometimes lower the RF gain so that the program receives the right signal levels. But when I switch back to analog, I sometimes forget to move it back up. Today during the net, I found some of the signal reports were pretty asymmetrical and I wondered if something similar might be happening to other people.

So here are two ways to lower the receive signal strength on the IC-7300:

Baseline

With everything adjusted properly, my noise floor was S2: 01.jpg

RF/SQL

When RFG is displayed on the screen, it means the RF/SQL nob is too far to the left. See p. 3-10 of the manual for more details. 03.jpg

Attenuator

When ATT is displayed on the screen, it means the attenuator is on. Press the P.AMP ATT button to turn it off. See p.4-3 of the manual for more details. 02.jpg
